Public Question Time

The City welcomes community participation in its decision making processes through public question time.

Our Council knows that when someone takes the time to ask a question at a Council meeting, it is very important to them.  We value that feedback.

With over 245,000 residents at the City, there is a high demand for public question time.

You can honour the rights of your fellow community members to have time to ask their questions in the following ways:

  • Seeking information from City officers before the meeting.  We can be more generous with our time outside the busy Council Chambers
  • Contacting your ward Councillor before the meeting.  Ward Councillors can also be more generous with their time outside the Council Chambers
  • Not including any preambles or statements. We will generally know what your question is about. If we don’t we will ask you for more information
  • Not asking your question if a similar question has already been asked. Asking the same question multiple times does not increase its impact, it may have the opposite effect
  • Asking your question online using the online form below, and not at the meeting. Every question asked online is answered in writing and recorded in the minutes
  • Asking a short, direct question. Lengthy questions are hard to follow and lose their impact
  • Taking any offer to meet with you to discuss your concerns.  Meeting on site with an officer or a Councillor is a better way of understanding concerns.

If you have any questions about public question time, please contact us on (08) 9205 8555 or governance@stirling.wa.gov.au
