Bill Angove: author talk by Richard Goodwin

Bill Angove (1924-1980) was a prominent figure in WA’s photographic and cultural history. Trained as a painter and architectural draughtsman, Albany-born Angove's inventive avant-garde style was hailed abroad and nationally. He exhibited across Australia, won awards and judged landmark art photography competitions. He died at 55 from disease attributed to excessive exposure to darkroom chemicals.

The book “Sparks of Genius – The Inventive Photography of Bill Angove” was written by local author Richard Goodwin to document the story of Bill Angove’s dazzling talent for the first time.

Richard Goodwin began work as a graduate cadet reporter on The Age newspaper. His years in journalism including winning a Walkley Award, editing a Fairfax daily newspaper and broadcasting on the ABC and Radio Australia. A veteran of leadership roles in the Western Australian Camera Club, the WA Photographic Federation and the WA Photographic Judges Association, Goodwin enjoyed extensive success as a photographer.
