The City of Stirling’s active communities team provide clubs and community organisations with ongoing support to ensure volunteers have the tools to develop efficient, self-managed and sustainable clubs.

Useful information
The City’s sport and recreation clubs play an important role in providing safe, inclusive places for our community to connect and be active.
Below are some resources from the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries that may assist club committees and volunteers to improve their club and support their members:
AusSport Game Plan - Clubs are encouraged to complete this free online tool that allows sporting clubs of all sizes to get insights into their current capability in key areas of club administration, then supports ongoing club development with a suite of tools.
Every Club Hub – resources, guides and training materials for club governance and inclusion, including starting a new club, volunteer management, safety and integrity.
Safe Clubs 4 Kids – this initiative encourages and supports the sport and active recreation industry to create and maintain safe environments for children and young people.
True Sport - education and resources for athletes, coaches and organisations, promoting fair play and a fostering positive environment.
WA Sport Star Awards - The WA Sport Awards enable the West Australian community to recognise excellence in sport and celebrate the achievements of WA sportspeople.

Floodlights at sport reserves
The following information can assist you in requesting floodlights at a reserve.
eSwitch
eSwitch is a sports lighting control that is installed at the City’s active reserves. Regular approved club users will have the ability to manage the floodlights from a secure platform via a smartphone.
The instructions for use are outlined in the Sports Floodlighting instructions video below.
If all steps in the video have been followed and the sports floodlighting does not come on during your approved and paid times, please contact your club presidents in the first instance who may be able to assist with eSwitch. If the issue cannot be resolved, please contact the City’s after hours on (08) 9205 8555.

The City has established an online maintenance request form, that enables users to report issues as they happen, and to follow the progress.
Examples of maintenance requests that can be submitted include:
- Club rooms, change room, public toilets, waste and graffiti
- Reserves, floodlighting, issues, i.e. wheel ruts, tree trimming, holes in cricket nets, broken reserve floodlight globes, turf damage, etc.
Select 'Yes' in the contact details section to make the request on behalf of your club so that records are tagged to your club.

KidSport make it possible for Western Australian children to participate in community sport and recreation, no matter their financial circumstances. KidSport allow eligible youth aged 5-18 years to apply for financial assistance to contribute towards club fees. The fees will go directly to the registered KidSport clubs participating in the project through their participating local government.
The City believes in supporting local clubs through the Community Grants Program.

The State Government’s Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund (CSRFF) and Club Night Lights Program (CNLP) opening for Expression of Interest (EOI) submissions for February is now closed. If your club is considering submitting an application for the funding rounds in 2024, please ensure you get in contact with the City to request an EOI form prior to the submission date for the July rounds.
Anticipated funding rounds in 2024 will include:
- 2023/24 February Small Grants Round: Submissions were due to the City by the end of February 2024. These are now closed
- 2023/24 July Small Grants Round: Submissions are due to the City by the end of July 2024
- 2025/26 Annual and Forward Planning Grants: Submissions are due to the City by the end of July 2024.
Projects that aim to meet priority areas such as improving female participation and increasing the sustainability of a facility will be viewed favorably.
