Coastal boardwalk update

The City’s Coastal Boardwalk Feasibility Study explores a proposal for a sustainable, iconic boardwalk between Scarborough and Trigg beaches. The next phase includes environmental surveys, economic assessments, and community consultations.

The City’s Coastal Boardwalk Feasibility Study aims to explore a proposal to create an iconic boardwalk that showcases our world-class coastline and connects people between Scarborough and Trigg beaches.

Through a preliminary environmental assessment the City understands that through sensitive design and the use of sustainable building materials, a coastal boardwalk could provide an opportunity for a unique tourist attraction while protecting and enhancing the natural environment. The City is now progressing the next phase of the feasibility study including:

  • Further environmental surveys of the area
  • Economic assessment
  • Development of concept designs
  • Consideration of construction approaches
  • Cost estimation to inform the next stage of the feasibility.

Once this work has been completed the City will proceed with the next steps in consultation with the community and stakeholders.
