Community Grants Program open for 2024-25
After a highly successful first year of operation, the City’s Community Grants Program will open for applications on Monday 1 July 2024
After a highly successful first year of operation, the City’s Community Grants Program will open for applications on Monday 1 July 2024, with $1.1 million allocated in the 2024-25 annual budget adopted by Council this week.
In 2023/24, 243 grants were awarded a pool of over $1 million across the five grant streams:
- 157 Active and Healthy Communities grants totalling $161,564
- 33 Locally-Led and Creative Communities grants totalling $253,308
- 15 Sustainable Communities grants totalling $65,425
- 28 Vibrant Communities grants totalling $451,950
- 10 Innovative and Productive Communities grant totalling $33,541.
Recipients included the iconic Scarborough Sunset Markets, Inglewood Night Markets, Osborne Park Show, RSPCA WA Community Action Day, Lionheart Camp for Kids, The Art Space Collective, Riding for the Disabled Association Carine, Friends of Lake Gwelup and the Ocean Heroes 24 Hour charity swim.
Mayor Mark Irwin said the program had delivered a simple and transparent process that better aligned the provision of funding to the City’s strategic objectives.
“The funding provided in 2023/24 was a critical investment in local activities, vibrant events, art exhibitions, sporting club improvements and the restoration of our natural environment,” he said.
“Our strategy of responding to identified local priorities and providing the community the support they’ve said they needed to take action is paying off, with a strong network of partnerships and high level of participation in our local communities.
“In 2024/25 Council will continue to fund these important initiatives to build a sustainable City with a local focus.”
The Community Grants Program will continue to offer the flexibility of different sized grants, with shorter decision timeframes for smaller grants.
