New mural scores big at Bennett Park Clubrooms
Local artist Vik was commissioned by the City to create the artwork, which reflects the energy and community spirit of the clubrooms and grounds.
Bennett Park Clubrooms in Doubleview has scored a winning addition with a vibrant new mural celebrating the sporting clubs that call the facility home.
Local artist Vik was commissioned by the City to create the artwork, which reflects the energy and community spirit of the clubrooms and grounds. The bold design, wrapping around two walls of the facility, features silhouettes of a rugby player and a cricket player, paying tribute to the Wests Scarborough Rugby Union Club, Northern Districts Touch Association and Scarborough Sharks Cricket Club.
This public artwork was introduced following a Notice of Motion from Doubleview Ward Councillor Elizabeth Re in July 2023. Alongside the mural, new wayfinding, clubroom and reserve entry signage was also installed.
The City is committed to developing a culturally significant Public Art Collection, with exceptional artworks that enhance and reflect the unique character of Stirling’s neighbourhoods. The Bennett Park mural is the latest example of public art helping to enrich local spaces and celebrate the community identity.
The clubroom redevelopment, completed in July 2021 was designed in collaboration with the clubrooms to ensure it met their needs. The upgraded facility now includes four unisex change rooms, two unisex umpire change rooms, a universally accessible public toilet, expanded storage, internal club toilets, and improved kitchen, kiosk, and social spaces.
