Shaping Stirling’s future with draft Local Scheme No. 4
The City of Stirling is taking the next steps in shaping its future with the release of draft Local Planning Scheme No. 4.
The City of Stirling is taking the next steps in shaping its future with the release of draft Local Planning Scheme No. 4 (LPS4). LPS4 will replace the current Local Planning Scheme No. 3 (LPS3) and is designed to provide greater clarity and certainty for residents about future development in their neighbourhoods.
The existing LPS3 and broader planning framework contains multiple layers, creating complexity for proponents, decision makers and the local community. Draft LPS4 simplifies the process by removing unnecessary regulation.
LPS4 is part of the City’s commitment to Planning Sustainable Stirling and will serve as the guide for managing future growth and development. It will ensure that residents have a clear understanding of what can be built on their block and will streamline planning processes across the City.
To ensure that all residents have the opportunity to provide input, the City will be hosting a series of engagement sessions where residents can discuss and learn more about LPS4 between 18 October 2024 – 24 January 2025. These sessions will offer a chance for the community to ask questions and provide feedback on the proposed changes.
Mayor Mark Irwin said he encouraged the community to engage and provide their comments on the draft scheme.
“This is an important opportunity for our residents to have their say on the future of their homes, businesses, and local areas,” he said.
“Our community is growing and changing. As Perth grows, even more residents will make their homes in the City of Stirling, and LPS4 is a key step in planning for the City’s future. Now is the time to provide your feedback, as this scheme will guide development in the City for years to come.
“Draft LPS4 has been designed to ensure our planning rules remain contemporary simplify and align with the State Government’s planning regulations, making it easier for residents and businesses to understand and engage with the planning process."
