Justice of the Peace services

The City of Stirling provides a free Justice of the Peace (JP) service to members of the community. A JP can witness official documents, administer an oath or affirmation, and take an affidavit.

How the JP service works

Visitors to the JP must provide a copy of each document to be witnessed. The JP will sign a maximum of 15 document copies at any one time.

When a document requires a second signature, both witnesses must be present at the same time, and must be over 18 years of age. Documents which require a second signature include:

  • Enduring Power of Attorney
  • Enduring Power of Guardianship
  • Advanced Health Directive
  • Wills.

Please note, the City does not provide any photocopying services. The City's employees are not able to witness any documents or provide any signatures.
