On this community walk, learn about the culture and language of the Nyoongar people.
We will be in the season of Bunuru, the second summer. It is the hottest time of the year and was the time for living and fishing by the coast, rivers, and estuaries.
Seafood and aquatic foods were a major part of the Nyoongar people’s diet during Bunuru. The six seasons played an integral role in the yearly cycle of travel and resource collection for Nyoongar people and now we can all better appreciate their connection to Country.
The event will incorporate information and moments for sharing as we explore Trigg Beach and learn about the cultural significance of the area.
Perth NRM is excited to work with Preston Culbong and City of Stirling to coordinate this walk.
It will take approximately one hour and will include stops along the way to learn about Aboriginal Cultural Heritage. Walkers will need to bring along a water bottle, a hat and wear suitable shoes for walking.
Please note that these events are fluid, and each walk is slightly different - depending on the weather, the flora and fauna that we may see and the questions that are asked.
Please join us for a cuppa and a yarn afterwards.
