The City of Stirling’s Environmental Health Officers provide guidance to food businesses and undertake regular assessments to ensure compliance with the Food Act 2008 and Food Standards Code to help reduce the likelihood of foodborne illness within the community.
Food-related complaint
If you have a food-related complaint or concern relating to a food business within the City, please complete a food safety request form. Food safety concerns that the City’s Environmental Health Officers can investigate include:
- Lack of cleanliness, or poor food-handler hygiene practices
- Contamination of food
- Suspected food poisoning
If your request relates to suspected food poisoning, you are strongly advised to visit a General Practitioner (GP) for medical examination, which may include submission of a faecal sample for laboratory analysis. If possible, please store a sample of the suspected food in the refrigerator to assist the City in its investigation.
Please note, food samples submitted to the City form part of a Public Health investigation. Anonymous, vexatious or incomplete requests are unable to be investigated. Any claim for compensation must be pursued directly with the business via civil proceedings.
