Free Living Green workshops for spring

11 October 2024

Bi-annual Living Green Education series is back.

Thinking of turning over a new leaf? We've got you covered with free workshops including soil health, water conservation, energy management and increasing biodiversity in your garden. These events are a great opportunity to hear from industry experts and meet your neighbours and community.

The Living Green Education Series, held bi-annually in spring and autumn, covers three of the City’s key environmental pillars – energy, water, and biodiversity. The topics reflect current trends and innovations with all workshops free to attend.

Reduce your energy and bills and create a comfortable home
Sunday 20 October | 2.00pm – 4.00pm | Henderson Environmental Centre.
This session is for those looking to cut electricity costs, create a more comfortable living environment and reduce emissions to combat climate change.

Creating a biodiverse and productive garden:
Saturday October 26 | 10.00am – 11.00am | Hamersley Habitat Community Garden.
Learn how to integrate native plants for wildlife and explore the permaculture approach to growing your own food. This workshop offers valuable tips on incorporating both native and edible plants in your garden.

Growing soil and saving water:
Saturday 2 November | 9.00am – 10.30am | Joondanna Community Food Garden.
Dive into the science of soil health. Learn how to conduct soil testing, the importance of compost for water retention, and how to test soil pH for optimal plant growth.

With a focus on practical and sustainable living solutions, the Living Green Education Series is a great opportunity for anyone interested in enhancing their garden, saving on household costs, and making a positive impact on the environment.
