A vibrant new public artwork now features at the refurbished Stirling Leisure – Inglewood grandstand.

The mural, created by Perth artists Chris Nixon and Andrew Frazer were selected to commission the works to bring colour, flair and connection to the iconic pool grandstand that wraps around a new state-of-the-art lap pool, with ten 50 metre lanes and four 25 metre lanes.

The Artists have drawn from their own nostalgia for summertime swims, long days around the public pool, frozen bananas, ice creams and that post swim.

It’s an iconic Australian culture and lifestyle that connects community and brings about celebration and rejuvenation through swimming. The artists wanting to evoke memories and experiences that continue today, with their own kids now and how they carry this legacy of the iconic Aussie pool.

The design explores the human form to express movement, health and vitality. Whether through competition, swimming laps or for leisure, the focus is on swimming.  The artists abstract and fragment these forms to reflect the diversity of community that gathers to form a collective with a common goal above the individual - the therapy of water and that post-swim feeling.

Whatever your purpose of visit, you always leave refreshed, energised and changed for the better.
