The City of Stirling is raising awareness on the latest Plan for Plastics bans at a series of pop-up events.

The Western Australian Government is continuing its efforts to reduce plastic pollution with the latest Plan for Plastics bans rolled out on 1 September.

Plastic lids and plastic lidded food containers, as well as plastic bags for fruit and vegetable produce are now banned throughout WA.

The City of Stirling is playing our part by supporting this initiative and raising awareness on the latest banned items at a series of pop-up events at local shopping centres throughout September.

The City of Stirling’s Waste Engagement Officers will be offering free reusable fruit and vegetable bags to help residents choose the most sustainable option when shopping.

The pop-up events will be held at the following locations:

  • Dianella Plaza – Thursday 12 and Friday 13 September
  • Northlands Plaza (Balcatta) – Tuesday 17 and Wednesday 18 September
  • Dog Swamp Shopping Centre (Yokine) – Thursday 19 September.

It is anticipated that this ban will save an additional 700 million plastic items annually from landfill.
