Over half a million dollars awarded in first round of Community Grants
The City of Stirling has successfully completed the first round of its 2024/2025 Community Grants Program.
The City of Stirling has successfully completed the first round of its 2024/2025 Community Grants Program, with 39 local groups, individuals and organisations receiving a total of $536,258 in funding. This round saw the highest number of applications since the program’s launch, reflecting a strong demand for support across the community.
The program offers grants through five streams aimed at meeting the diverse needs of the community by addressing the priorities outlined in Sustainable Stirling 2022 – 2032, the City’s Strategic Community Plan:
- Active and Healthy Communities
- Innovative and Productive Communities
- Locally-led and Creative Communities
- Sustainable Communities
- Vibrant Communities.
The program provides a centralised approach to distributing grants through a simple, fair, and transparent process. The grants are designed to strengthen social connections, promote healthy and active lifestyles, support sustainability initiatives, foster creativity, and encourage locally-led projects that benefit the wider community.
Mayor Mark Irwin said these grants will have a lasting positive impact on the City.
“This first round saw a record number of applicants, with 39 recipients benefiting from the program. It’s clear that our Community Grants Program reflects the needs and aspirations of our community, and we’re working directly with recipients to support some great activities. By funding these initiatives, we are ensuring that the City continues to be a vibrant and fun place to live,” he said.
“The level of interest and engagement in the grants program is very encouraging, and we’re excited to see the positive impact these activities will have on our community over the next year.”
The funded projects span a wide range of activities, including environmental initiatives, local arts and cultural programs, specialist sporting programs and events. The grant support provided by the City will allow local groups to continue delivering vital services and create opportunities that bring people together.
Round two of the Community Grants Program opens on Tuesday 1 October and closes on Thursday 31 October. This round will focus on small grants for projects valued between $2,001 and $5,000. The City encourages eligible individuals and community groups to take advantage of this opportunity to secure funding for their projects.
