Polyphagous shot-hole borer (PSHB) detected at Carine Regional Open Space
The City will remove affected trees and ensure all plant material is properly chipped. New trees will be planted in 2025.
Polyphagous shot-hole borer (PSHB) has been detected in trees at Carine Regional Open Space by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD). A Pest Control Notice has been issued for the reserve. As directed by DPIRD, the City will remove the trees.
As part of the Pest Control Notice, no tree or plant material should be removed from the reserve unless it is chipped below 25mm, in accordance with DPIRD requirements. Two designated areas within the reserve will serve as collection points for these materials and they will be marked with bunting and signed.
The City will ensure new trees are planted to replace the losses in the 2025 planting season.
