To amend Local Planning Policy 6.18: Public Consultation to improve efficiency and streamline the statutory process surrounding public consultation.

The proposed amendments to Local Planning Policy 6.18: Public Consultation refine the existing policy to improve efficiency and streamline the statutory process surrounding public consultation.

The following changes are proposed:

  • Include a provision to allow the ability to waive public consultation for previously approved applications that are proposing minor amendments that at the discretion of the City will not adversely impact the amenity of the surrounding properties
  • Amending the definition of a ‘complex application’ to raise the monetary value from 2 million to 2.5 million and increasing applicable multiple dwellings from 10 or greater to 13 or greater
  • Amend how the City presents the date received from consultation introducing additional parameters to provide greater context in summarising reports to Council and the Development Assessment Panel
  • Amend various strategic planning instruments that are no longer relevant
  • Overall improvements through administrative changes.

FAQs

No, although the policy provides City Officers the ability to waive consultation for 'complex applications' this is only for previously advertised and approved applications, that at the discretion of the City, the changes will not adversely impact the amenity of the area.

Your submission on the Local Planning Policy will contribute to how the City consultants on strategic planning documents and development applications.

Once consultation has been finalised the City will review all submissions and recommend any changes deemed appropriate to be included into the amended Policy, which will be reviewed by Council for adoption.

When Council considers the submissions received, it must only consider the planning merits of the submissions made. The City asks that submissions be limited to planning matters or impacts of the Policy.
