The City is proposing remediation works to improve the management and access of the fenced dog park at Carine Open Space.

The City is undertaking remediation works to improve the management and access at the fenced dog park.
Proposed works include;
- Realignment of the fencing to remove the steep section at the top of the dog park
- Provision of a universal path from the northern car park
- Installation of a staircase for direct access from the informal parking off Okely Road.

Yes, the lawn will be replaced as part of the remedial works.
Due to space restrictions, additional agility equipment is included only in the larger fenced space. The smaller fenced areas will have the other forms of enrichment including seating, drink fountain and sand pit.
A new staircase will provide a direct access path from the informal car park to the new entry point at the top of the park.
Alternatively, park visitors can use the gentle ramp from the car park located north of the Dog Park. It will be possible to enter both the large and small fenced areas from the ramp and stairs.
Access to the Dog Park from the bottom of the embankment will remain unchanged.
The City has liaised with the Park Run organisers to ensure there is no impact on the Park Run.
For reasons of health and safety, the fenced dog park will be closed while construction takes place. Dog users may still use Carine Regional Open space to exercise their dogs off leash during this time. Dogs must still be under effective control at all times, regardless of whether they are in the Fenced Dog Park, or in the wider Carine Open Space area.
Alternatively, there are a number of fenced dog parks across the City of Stirling, including at Dianella Regional Open Space, Charles Riley Reserve in North Beach, Inglewood Oval and Princess Wallington Reserve in Balga.
Community engagement will take place from 10 November 2023 to 8 December 2023. With engagement outcomes shaping the final remediation works.
